U.S. Battery Manufacturing Company awarded the Allen Lund Company Atlanta office and Los Angeles office with the 2003 Service Award for Outstanding Service in meeting U.S. Battery’s transportation needs. “In today's world most of our customers work on a JIT system and our largest customer, Interstate Battery Systems of America, is no exception. Without the dedication and professionalism of the Allen Lund Company to get our shipments out on time, the demand for Interstate battery and all of our other customers would not be met – there is just no way,” says Terry Campbell, Director of Transportation, for U.S. Battery based at the Corona, California plant. “The 2003 Service Award belongs to the employees of U.S. Battery and Allen Lund Company, who, through their combined efforts, hard work, and diligence, reached this milestone,” adds David Lind, Vice President of Sales and Operations for the Allen Lund Company.

A strategic alliance between U.S. Battery and Allen Lund Company was forged in an effort to improve on-time delivery of U.S. Battery products to distributors. Over the course of one year, on-time delivery from the Evans, GA. and Augusta, GA. plants increased to 99.9% and to 100% from the Corona, CA plant. Utilizing a track and trace system via the internet U.S. Battery is able to access the status of a load at any time and be notified by Allen Lund Company staff via email, fax, phone or EDI interface.

Additionally, a check-in system was implemented whereby the Allen Lund Company updated U.S. Battery three times per day. Jim Scazzero, Assistant Manager, for the Allen Lund Company, Atlanta office says, “we have grown from handling one load every other week from Georgia to California, to the single source carrier for U.S. Battery nationally and internationally.” “Over the years,” Scazzero countinues, “it has been, truly, a mutually coordinated process to create such a successful relationship between our two companies.” Furthermore, Campbell continues, “we feel very fortunate to have such a great partnership with the Allen Lund Company and we look forward to many more years of success with them.”
